CT Development & Registry Prep

The CT Development & Registry Prep Course is a comprehensive 6-week program designed to prepare licensed radiologic technologists for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CT registry examination. This course is specifically tailored to meet the needs of licensed professionals seeking career advancements in Computed Tomography (CT). The program aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the field of CT technology. With a combination of in-depth theoretical instruction, hands-on training, and exam-focused preparation, participants will develop a solid foundation in CT principles, enhance their technical proficiency, and be well-prepared to pass the ARRT CT registry examination. This course meets the structured education requirement set by the ARRT and is approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for Continuing Education (CE) credits.

OBJECTIVES

Comprehensive Understanding of CT Principles and Physics:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of Computed Tomography.
  • Comprehend the physics behind CT, including X-ray generation, image formation, and data acquisition.
  • Gain knowledge of CT scanning parameters, contrast agents, and radiation dose considerations.

Mastery of CT Imaging Techniques and Protocols:

  • Familiarize with a variety of CT imaging techniques, including routine protocols and specialized examinations.
  • Understand the clinical applications of different CT protocols and optimize image quality for specific indications.
  • Develop proficiency in selecting appropriate imaging parameters and adjusting protocols based on patient condition.

Recognition and Interpretation of CT Anatomy and Pathologies:

  • Enhance skills in identifying normal anatomical structures on CT images.
  • Develop expertise in recognizing and interpreting common pathologies encountered in CT examinations.
  • Differentiate between normal and abnormal structures on CT images with precision and accuracy.

Proficiency in CT Equipment Operation and Image Acquisition:

  • Gain hands-on experience in operating CT scanners and related equipment.
  • Learn to optimize scanning parameters, adjust patient positioning, and ensure patient safety.
  • Acquire skills in contrast administration, injection techniques, and management of adverse reactions.

Expertise in Image Reconstruction and Post-processing:

  • Explore advanced image reconstruction techniques and post-processing tools used in CT.
  • Learn to manipulate CT images to improve diagnostic quality and extract valuable information.
  • Develop proficiency in multi-planar reconstructions, 3D rendering, and other post-processing techniques.

Safety Protocols and Patient Care in the CT Environment:

  • Understand and implement safety protocols specific to CT examinations.
  • Learn to minimize radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
  • Develop effective communication skills to provide patient-centered care and address patient concerns.

Preparation for the ARRT CT Registry Examination:

  • Familiarize with the content, format, and requirements of the ARRT CT registry examination.
  • Practice exam-style questions and participate in mock exams to assess knowledge and readiness.
  • Receive guidance on exam preparation strategies, time management, and test-taking techniques.

By the end of this 6-week course, participants will have developed a strong foundation in CT principles, acquired practical skills in operating CT equipment, enhanced their ability to interpret CT images, and be well-prepared to pass the ARRT CT registry examination. In addition, participants will meet the structured education requirement set by the ARRT and earn Continuing Education (CE) credits approved by the ASRT. This course aims to empower licensed radiologic technologists to advance their careers in the field of Computed Tomography and meet the necessary qualifications for career advancements and professional growth. Clinical rotations are available upon request (clinical fees apply).
